Cecilia is a piano and flute teacher with 10 years of private and classroom teaching experience following completion of a Bachelor of Music (Performance) and Music Education at the University of New South Wales.
Her experience as private piano and flute teacher involves working with students from elementary to advanced levels and also preparing eager students for practical and theory examinations. Further, her classroom music teaching exposure contributes to her capacity to work with students from all age groups and abilities particularly in group settings in Australia and the United Kingdom.
During her stay in the United Kingdom, she discovered the Kodály concept of music education, which transformed her teaching style and understanding of music. This introduction prompted her to continue undertaking professional development and study at the Kodály Institute in Kecskemét in Hungary with music educators from around the world. Cecilia was awarded with a Diploma in Kodály Concept of Music Education with Piano Pedagogy Specialisation and Musicianship.
Cecilia currently teaches flute at a number of schools across Sydney and actively encourages her students to be involved in school band programs to improve their ensemble skills. She also maintains private piano students at several music schools in Sydney. Cecilia is a gifted teacher. She was very gentle and patient with my daughter who was starting out new to flute. It took a while for my daughter to even get a sound, but Cecilia was encouraging and kind. She was always prompt to class and sent regular emails with new music for my daughter to try. My daughter is thriving now and a beautiful flute player. Thank you Cecilia! B. Tong
My daughters' introduction to piano has been made easy by Ms Cecilia's skill, experience and love for music. Ms Cecilia keeps the girls engaged and focused with smiles on their faces. You can see that they enjoy her positive and nurturing nature. She combines piano time with games and singing to further their learning. I would highly recommend Ms Cecilia at the Lane Cove Music & Cultural Centre. B. Pena
