The Lane Cove Music and Cultural Centre grew from the inspiration of local resident Robyn Mah. Robyn was passionate about music education and the many benefits it gave the community.
In 1992 with a small group of music enthusiasts she co-founded the Lane Cove Youth Orchestra to provide performance opportunities.
It soon became evident that a venue for quality music tuition was needed. Following discussions with Mayor Barry Harrison & Lane Cove Council, a venue at the old bowling club at 266 Longueville Road, pictured above, was made available to the Association and an embryonic music program commenced with one tutor and six students. Subsequent funding from Lane Cove Council, NSW Ministry for the Arts and hundreds of hours by members of the newly founded committee members ensured success.
In 2016 the Association moved to new premises located within a mixed community/commercial/residential redevelopment in the heart of Lane Cove's busy commercial centre.
The centre now hosts over 200 music students, 16 Music Tutors and many community programs in Art, Music and Language.
