Georgia broughton is a professional violinist originally from Los Angeles, California. Georgia has 10 years of experience in private violin instruction for students of all ages and performance levels.
Georgia has been a member of the American Federation of Musicians (Local 47, Los Angeles) since 2011 and has extensive experience in live performance settings (orchestral, ensemble, chamber music and opera) and studio soundtrack recording (film, television and commercials).
Georgia studied with Tamara Chernyak of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and trained at the Colburn School of Performing Arts and as a long-time member of the American Youth Symphony. Alongside her western classical training, Georgia has experience in Early Music performance and Scottish, Irish and Old-Time fiddling.
Additionally, Georgia holds a Ph.D. in ethnomusicology from UCLA and her dissertation focused on Northern European fiddling traditions and the intersection of politics, music education, inclusivity and sustainability in traditional music performance.
