Josemir Valverde Cello, Composition, Theory

Josemir has been teaching students cello, music theory and music composition at different levels for over 20 years.

Josemir has a Phd and Masters in music composition. He graduated in Music Composition and Conducting at one of the most renowned Music Universities in Brazil. Josemir has been teaching cello lessons at an Arts Foundation in the south of Brazil, Music Composition and Theory and Harmony at a University.

He has won 5 awards in national and regional composition competitions, including:

- 2nd place in the National Competition of the Brazilian Academy of Music.

- 1st place in the UFBA regional composition contest,

- 2nd place in the “National Composition Competition Lindemberg Cardoso”.

- Audience Award at the “National Composition Competition Lindemberg Cardoso”.

- Honourable Mention in the “XXIII Presentation of Bahia Composers”.

Josemir performed as a cellist at the UFBA Symphony Orchestra (2002-2003), Santo André Symphony Orchestra (2005-2006), Paraná Symphony Orchestra (2006-2007), at the Universidad del Norte Orchestra (Asunción-Paraguay/2006), Unisinos Orchestra (2009).

Qualification:

Ph.D. in Music Composition – Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul

Master in Music – Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul

Degree in Music Composition and Conducting – Federal University of Bahia
